Deeside Way – Culter

Deeside Lens Flare, February 2018

A few weeks ago, I took advantage of a sunny winter Sunday and visited the Deeside Way between Milltimber and Peterculter on the outskirts of Aberdeen. The sun was still relatively low in the sky, so I had fun playing around with the resulting reflections and lens flares. I picked this image to post because of the contrast between the vibrant reflection of the sun and the silhouette of the overhanging budding branches.

The Deeside Way (http://www.deesideway.org) began life as an old railway line, and is now transformed into a public walk, starting in Aberdeen city and running all the way out through Aberdeenshire to Ballater in the Cairngorms. I visited the urban parts of this walkway in dribs and drabs last summer, and over the coming months I hope to travel further out into the Shire to enjoy the more rural and picturesque parts of the walk in springtime.
